Geoff Boland is a Vicar in the Church of England and has been since 1989. Prior to ordination he did have a proper job. he worked as a Printer, Painter, postman and now he is a preacher!
Geoff came to faith in Jesus in the early 1970’s and was strongly influenced by the new music that was emerging in the Christian church following the Jesus Revival around 1970-71. He played guitar and sang in a couple of Gospel rock bands in the 70’s and 80’s, and wrote a number of songs with strong Christian themes.
Having been steeped in this music for many years, Geoff floated the idea of a show on Hope FM focusing on this special era called The Early Years. Kevin our station manager agreed and a new show was born just 3 months after Hope FM began broadcasting with its new licence. Geoff now shares the show with Derek Dayman who sits in the studio chair 3 weeks out of four.
Geoff also played guitar and sang for 7 years in a Vicars rock band called ‘Dogs without Collars’ They finally were put into kennels in July 2013.
At this present moment in time Geoff is Vicar at St.Barnabas Church in Bearwood, and has been since 1999.
